that college life

This is for all of you soon to be college student that are so eager to leave high school and enroll in college.
Yes college can be fun, but it is also tedious and difficult. And if you mess up in any way, your teachers could care less.
So I have made a list if helpful ideas for you to consider when you begin college. And if you are already in college, maybe these will help you do better in class.

-show up to class on time and prepared for the lesson. And don't think that just because it's college that you don't need to go to class, because there is no substitution for the things you will learn in class than you would on your own.

-Most classes now are all online meaning that all of your assignments will be posted on an online "board". My school calls it Canvas, and if I go a day without checking it, I find myself not being ready for class. This being said, check your site regularly to keep up with the coursework.

-study, study, study. I have to admit this is one thing I have difficulty with. But when I do study, I find that I truely do a while lot better in my classes. And don't study with your electronics, that just distracts you from what your doing. your mind cannot focus on two things at once, you may think that it can, but your brain can only focus on one thing at a time. and to get the most out of your studying, you better just be safe and put your electronics on silent.

-keep a day planner or calendar. Personally I have a week planner that use to map out my daily activities during the week.
Then to specialize it for school, I use sticky notes that tell me what work is due on what day.
I have found this immensely helpful because I can see when I have time to do homework and projects and then see what day things are actually due. another helpful tip for this is to color code it, that could help attract your attention to the more important things on your list.
This is probably the only thing that keeps me sane, I would be lost without this book of mine.

-always make "you" time. this is an essential element in the college career. most kids go to college so that they can find themselves and most have a tough time balancing schoolwork with a social life. but here is the secret, you don't need a social life in college. sure, be sociable, make friends, hang out once in a while, but don't overdo it. you are supposed to be finding yourself, and in order to do that you need to allow yourself learn in class as well as outside of class. make personal time, go running, do some yoga, learn about yourself in ways that you normally wouldn't if you were surrounded by people.

So there you have it, my tips to a successful college career. Hopefully there was something in here that you found useful and that you will try out. If not, well then you just wasted five minutes of your time to listen to me rant. So thank you:)
