Killarney, Ireland

on day two of our trip to Ireland, we hit the road and found our way to Killarney, which is almost on the other side of the country (about three hours drive, but by this point we were pro at navigating the irish roads. and big props to Kali because she managed to drive around the entire country while driving on the wrong side of the road with a stick-shift car!)

Killarney is known for its beautiful National Parks that are home to many castles and lakes. again, it was one of those main touristy areas, so there were people and busses everywhere.

i can't remember the name of this castle, but it was directly in the heart of the National Park. it was more of a touristy sight to show how castles were way back when, but still fun because you were allowed to walk around the inside walls.

our last stop for the day was the Muckross House and Garden in Killarney.
this "house" was literally giant and surrounded by the prettiest scenery! in the front of the building there was green grass everywhere, (probably could have fit several soccer fields) and in front of the grass was a lake. i can't even imagine waking up to a world like that every day, it would almost be enough to be okay with the fact that there was no running water or electricity!

by now, its saturday night, and all we can think about is food and showers! so we found our way to a really good Thai food restaurant (I'm a sucker for really good thai food) and our next airbnb and went to bed!

side note: regardless of how early we would leave, we could never manage to get back to our rooms before 9. i blame the fact that every place we stayed was located in the middle of really confusing countrysides where we always managed to get lost or confused. like saturday night for example, we stayed in a really nice, modern bed and breakfast that was located in the middle of absolutely nowhere. it also didn't help that we were trying to navigate getting there when it was pitch black outside and there are no street signs anywhere!
another side note: among the many amazing and marvelous things of Ireland, street signs are not one of them, or to be more specific, addresses. they have like main roads with signs a names, but once you get into the neighborhood forget everything you know about addresses. everything is completely different. and when you ask for directions from people, they tell you, "oh, well go straight down this road and turn left at this road. oh and once you see the big farm house with a small cottage opposite of it, turn right, thats our street."
like why can't you just give me an address?!

ok, enough of my ranting, and don't get me wrong i absolutely loved Ireland, but addresses and directions i just love more in the states!
