weddings

i go to weddings for two reasons

1. to eat the food, mainly the cake.
2. to dance.
for some reason the dancer comes alive in me at weddings and i completely let loose. its def a sight to see bc i can't actually dance very well...actually i can't dance at all..

but family weddings are a different story, you have to be in more of the pictures and are obligated to go around and talk to everyone and explain how life and school are going and that yes, you are still single and no won't be getting married any time soon.
so i wasn't expecting much at my brothers wedding bc i knew i would have to do all this and had no date.. but i never do so what new..

but i can honestly say that this was probably the funnest wedding I've ever been to. there was amazing mexican food (because my family is mexican we can get the good hook ups), amazing cake (you know how much i love cake) and a sweet dance floor. almost everyone got up and danced and it was just a really good time!

my brothers photographer hasn't sent over any of the pictures yet, but my aunt took some and sent them to me, granted i don't seem to know how to properly pose for a picture so i look like a complete goof but what the heck. i could care less.

my favorite one

or maybe this is my favorite...

you're probably already wondering and i will tell you now, i have no idea!

at least my lipstick looks good right?

this is my favorite little stinker Troy

i also successfully taught a kid to do the wobble. go me!

 welcome to the family Madi!!

update

alrighty, so as you may know from my previous entries, i just recently finished the Divergent Series. which is great timing cause the movie just came out. so of course, i HAD to see it! and i did. just now. and let me tell you, i was very impressed! i absolutely loved it, yes there were some parts that they changed or left out altogether, but what can you expect? they were given two hours to make this wonderfully crafted book into a movie. i think they did a great job, although i still prefer seeing the movie in my head. but that means i would have to re-read the entire series and i don't know if emotionally i am up to that. the last book left me a mess, I'm still slightly bitter about that. but then again after watching the movie tonight and seeing how perfectly crafted Theo James (four-aka tobias) is, i can honestly say i am slightly less bitter. i mean just look at him.. drool

on to the next subject at hand, what will i read next? well I've actually been thinking about this one for a bit. i want something funny and witty, and yet I'm still bitter from my last book which makes me want to read something sad. but i want it to be a good book so I've decided on The Fault In Our Stars
one: the movie is coming out soon
two: because Shailene Woodley is in it and she rocked Divergent
three: I've heard from many people that it is a must read

so why not. although first i actually need to get it. that might help right? ;)

lastly, i feel the need to mention that i am participating in The Book of Mormon Translation Challenge? what is that you may ask? well, its exactly as it seems, a BOM challenge. although the tricky part is i have from April7-June 30 to finish it. why? well, when the book was first translated, those were the dates in which it took them to translate the entire thing. and if they could do that in that amount of time then i will have no problem reading it.
im excited and ready for this challenge, and if you feel like you need something like this in your life, follow along. its never too late to begin!

until next time,

I love to see the temple

two weeks ago, i had the chance to walk through the temple on a guided tour. and let me tell you, i have never seen such a beautiful building. i could probably stare at it all day and never think differently, everything about it screams perfection and i can't express how happy it makes me.
however, that experience doesn't relate to the experience i was lucky enough to have today. my family and i were given the chance to watch the actual temple dedication inside of the temple! and, no we weren't in the same room as the prophet, those lucky enough to be in that room (the celestial room) were individuals with white recommends. it just means they are extra special. we were given blue recommends, and those who attended the dedication at a church building were given green ones. the individuals who received blue ones were the families of bishops, stake presidents, high council members and such.

but regardless of where you may have watched the dedication, it was a very special opportunity and will remain in my memory forever. it was impossible to not feel the spirit while listening to the Prophet give the dedicatory prayer. the entire time i felt like i was floating on air, i felt so calm and relaxed.

and as for last night (the temple cultural celebration) i couldn't be anymore impressed with those youth. they have spent so long practicing for that night that no amount of rain could ruin it for them. some may argue that if our church were really true, Heavenly Father would have stopped the rain, but in reality, its just another testament of the truthfulness of the church. the rain made it so much more incredible to watch, if the church weren't true, why would 12,000 youth go through all of this?
i am so immensely jealous of everyone who participated, now they can say they sang and danced in the rain in front of the prophet.

I'm going to take this moment to share my testimony because i KNOW this church is true, there is no way that it can't be. i am so very glad to be apart of this church and i know that by living true and upholding our standards, we will be blessed and will one day be able to return to our Father in Heaven. i am excited for the day that i will be able to go through the temple and be sealed to my husband and future family. nothing makes me more happy than to think of that day because i know it will be one of the best days of my life. and i say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

yours truly

my future family

so lately I have been thinking a lot about how I want to raise my future family, a lot of my ideas of do's and don'ts come from what I have seen and witnessed while babysitting or nannying. and some of them may come from my own family, but here it goes.

Do's and Don'ts for My Future Family

I will raise them in the LDS church and my husband and I will be the example they need to see to be strong members.

I want to keep a clean house (thanks mom for setting the expectations high!) and this includes no shoes in the house, I cannot stand it when the floors of your own house make your feet dirty. so if i have to vacuum and mop on a regular basis so be it.

I will teach my children at a young age to eat healthy and not be picky. I want to raise children who will actually like their fruits and veggies. It amazes me when kids say that they don't like apples or peaches, like come on. How could you not? This is one thing that falls on the parents, if a child sees that their parents are picky and only eat junk then they will do the same.

I will not keep soda or junk food in the house. Soda for one is so bad for you and I hardly ever drink it and junk food is just unnecessary temptations and if cut out, can save you money in your monthly budget. Maybe occasionally I will for a treat or something but not on a regular basis.

Another thing, I won't give my kids juice all of the time, I want them to learn to like water. Its better for you and the body actually needs it. And for those of you who send your baby to bed with a sippy cup of juice, you do realize that it is in the process of slowly rotting your kids teeth while they sleep.

I really want well mannered kids, I know that I can't force them to behave well, but I hope that I raise them in such a way that they want to behave well for me and especially for others. I will show them good manners and just hope they follow by example.

Im going to put my kids in sports, I really want to raise a healthy family and I know that if they participate in sports at a young age it will help them have an appreciation in the long run.

I do not want to spoil my kids, I want them to know they have to work towards something if they really want it. I want them to understand that not everything comes easy and everything has a price.

I know some people may think I'm a bit extreme and i can't expect that out of all of my kids, but think about it this way. If your kids aren't given expectations, then they have nothing to live up to, and id rather have kids that know that they have high expectations than kids who have none at all.

well, until next time
